Seniha SAMİ


FIRST WOMEN MUSEUM Turkey’s first female curators Seniha is Sami. After several Westerners in Turkey; Seniha Sami, a woman museologist who took the first specialization in the history of the Republic in museums, had a background from her family. Born in 1886, Seniha Sami learned English, French and Persian in addition to Turkish at an early age. Seniha Sami, who translated the works of the professors that Atatürk brought from America to direct education in the first years of the Republic, was appointed to the management of the Topkapı Palace Museum and became our first woman museum.
